The first round of state playoffs are held in the local schools of the teams that made the top eight of the final cut as did the #2 seed Roy/Mosquero Lady Blue who hosted the #15 seed Magdalena Lady Steers on Friday night March 3.

The Lady Steers kept the game close in the first quarter of play with strong defensive play and decent scoring but that all changed in the second quarter of play. The Lady Blue defense came alive and shut down the Lady Steers holding them to only three points in the quarter. As the halftime buzzer sounded the Lady Blue had extended the lead to 16 with a 31-15 score.

Second half action continued with the Lady Blue dominating the floor and holding the Lady Steers to only six point for the entire second half of play. The final 62-21 sends the Lady Blue into the next round of state play at Bernalillo High School Wednesday morning against #7 seed Ft Sumner/House. Ft Sumner/House beat Evangel Christian Academy 44-28 to move into the second round of play.
