Raton Splits Double Header With Portales

The Raton Tiger baseball team was at home for a double header against the Portales Rams on Monday, March 14 and split the pair taking the first game 13-9 and dropping the nightcap 15-3.

Raton took the lead in the first game with two in the first and three in the second. Portales came to within 1 getting a run across in the top of the fifth to trail 5-4.

Then the Raton floodgates opened as the Tigers scored six in the bottom of the fifth, before the first out was recorded and would go on to score a total of eight.  Portales tried to make a game of it by scoring 5 in the seventh, but Raton’s lead was insurmountable.

With the split, Raton’s season record is 2-2.

The Tigers compete in the Santa Fe St. Mikes Tournament this weekend beginning on Thursday, March 17 by taking on Bernalillo
