Both the Varsity Boys and Girls won their respective games Thursday evening December 16, as they hosted the Springer Red Devils and Lady Red Devils in Tiger Gym.
The Lady Tigers opened the game with a big point rally ending the first quarter with 19 points holding the Lady Red Devils to only five points. The big problem the Lady Red Devils suffered from was missed shots. Both teams then fell to the covered basket as both team scored eight points. The second half of the game flip flopped as the Lady Red Devils hit 14 points while the Lady Tigers only popped in four in the third. Fourth quarter action saw Raton drop in 14 while Springer only managed six points.
The boy’s game was a tight race all the way through with the cowbell on the line after the tourney last week. Raton took the early lead but allowed Springer to come back and tie then take the lead to end the first half of play. It came down to the second half of play where the Tigers once again took the lead but Springer battled back for the tie. The fourth quarter finally saw Raton dominate the ballgame outscoring Springer 22-13 to retain the Cowbell.
