The Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Braves from Santa Fe for a district matchup Saturday afternoon October 2, 2021 and the Lady Braves went home with the wins in all three matches.
The C-Team dropped both of their games with the same score 25-15 as the Lady Braves pulled out ahead in game one and eventually created a 20-10 lead. Both teams scored five each to end the game 25-15. Game two went to SFI right from the start and this one ended in a 25-15 score as well.
The JV match went the extra game as Santa Fe won the first one with a 25-17 win after opening up a 16-3 then a 19-6 deficit. Raton continued to battle and when the game was over it was a 25-17 score on the scoreboard. Raton then started off and took the lead early and never looked back posting a 19-12 score. Raton won the game by five with a 25-20 win. The girls played the tie breaker keeping it close after Raton took off with a 6-0 lead. The score was tied at seven before SFI took the lead and kept it until the end winning by five.
Raton struggled the first game of the varsity match starting off with a 8-0 deficit before finally getting a point on the board. Down by 10 the Lady Tigers battled back and was down 19-9 but couldn’t seem to get things to gel and allowed the Lady Braves to take the next six points for a25-9 win. Game two went much better for the Lady Tigers as they kept the game close with a tie game at 11. Santa Fe then pulled it out the stops and rallied making the hits over the net for scores and ending it with a25-17 win. Game three was a night and day change as Santa Fe Indian took the lead but Raton battled the blocks and came back for the tie. The game had 14 ties all the way up to a tie at 25 before the Lady Braves finally got the upper hand and finished it off with a 27-25 win. The lead changed hands several times but never more than a three point spread was ever seen on the scoreboard as both teams were successful as the net with blocks and spikes for scores.
