In Loving Memory of Virgil E. Taylor

Virgil E. Taylor, age 76, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020, in Clayton, New Mexico.

A memorial graveside service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Virgil E. Taylor was born on October 9, 1944, in Dalhart, Texas to Virgil E. Taylor, Sr. and Mary Ann (Foltz) Taylor. They moved to Stinnett, Texas where Virgil grew up and graduated high school. Virgil then moved to Clayton where he worked for Tommy Ethridge at Ethridge Chevrolet. While living in Clayton, Virgil married Leslie (VanPelt) Taylor on December 9, 1965. Virgil joined the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War. When he returned home from his service in the Navy, Virgil and Leslie made their home in Clayton and he returned to work at Ethridge Chevrolet. He worked for Tommy for several years until Tommy sold the dealership, Virgil stayed on with the dealership for about a year then went to work for McClure’s Big J Auto until he retired. Virgil loved to hunt and fish. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents.

SURVIVORS:

He is survived by his wife of 55 years; Leslie Taylor of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Bryce Taylor and his wife Susie of Logan, New Mexico, and Brett Taylor and his wife Sharon of Clayton, New Mexico.

4 Grandchildren: Chad Taylor, Briana Taylor, Marshall Fields, and Erin Cato.

6 Great-Grandchildren: Olivia Taylor, Lori, Josie, Ozzy, Lilly, and Jaci.

2 SISTERS: Anelle Pennington and her husband Arthur and Tanya Coberly and her husband Mike.

1 BROTHER: Richard Taylor and his wife Louann.

And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
