Start Date & Time: June 6, 2020 – 1800

Start Location: 5 miles west of Mosquero, NM, Highway 39 and Farm Camp Road, Harding County

Cause of Fire:  Lightning

Area Vegetation: Grass, pinon, juniper

Estimated Acres Burned: 17,000

Ownership(s):  Private

Structures Threatened: No

Structures Burned:  Yes, 1 unoccupied

Evacuations (Y or N & #): NThe Farm Camp Fire west of Mosquero, NM in Harding County is now estimated at 17,000 acres and 65% contained. No structures are threatened. Fire activity increased today with strong winds and warmer temperatures. Firefighters are working to hold existing containment lines and add additional containment lines on the south end of the fire. The fire also remains active on the interior as it reaches unburned fuels. There are approximately 50 firefighters on the scene.

The smoke rises high into the sky creating its own clouds as the Farm Camp Fire moves back in a southerly direction pushed by northerly winds Tuesday morning.
Dark smoke billows skyward as the Farm Camp Fire consumes more cedar growth Tuesday morning SW of Mosquero.
Covering 12,000 acres the Farm Camp Fire moves south pushed by northerly winds Tuesday morning.
As fire from the Farm Camp Fire hits dried cedars they explode and send smoke billowing into the sky Tuesday morning.
Smoke rises in the air from the Farm Camp Fire southwest of Mosquero NM as the northerly winds kick up and push the fire in a southerly direction back into canyon country

10 Smoke plumes can be seen in this satellite view of Arizona and New Mexico. Of local interest are the Deer Canyon Fire in SE Las Animas County and the Farm Camp Fire Near Mosquero in Harding County. Both of those smoke plumes are easily seen in the upper right side of the frame.
