Lake Maloya Ice Fishing Status Update

This is Lake Maloya this morning, January 3, 2020.

These wet areas were not there yesterday morning when I checked ice thickness. The wet heavy snow we received a couple of weeks ago is having a negative effect on ice quality on Lake Maloya. When I look at evaluating ice conditions, I have to look at the bigger picture. Ideally, if people just stayed close to shore there wouldn’t be much of an issue; however, there are folks that like to venture all the way across the lake and that’s where it gets iffy. I know there are people that are getting impatiant and want to get out ice fishing. We take ice measurements every Monday and Thursday. We will make an announcement when we will allow activities on the ice. Until then, Eagles Nest is open for ice fishing at this time. Feel free to contact my office if you have any questions.
