The 2019 Notice of Values will be going out in the mail April 1. It is not a tax bill it is your valuation on your property; Business, Personal Property, and of course Livestock. Look at your value and if you do not agree with it, you have 30 days after you receive your Notice of Value to Protest. Forms and applications are available at: http://www.co.colfax.nm.us/government/county_assessor.
There are also some benefits and exemptions that you may qualify for: Head of Household (must be your primary residence), Veteran’s Exemption- this is a $4000 reduction in the taxable value of your real estate, 100% disabled veteran who is deemed 100 percent disabled, 65 and older or permanently disabled and modified gross income is under $32,000 and all these have to be on your primary residence.
The deadline for claiming any of these is 30 days after you receive your Notice of Value. Again, the Notice of Values will be mailed out April 1.
