Raton Main Street has begun the process of a beautification project on Raton’s historic First Street.
The project will include such things as tree planting, signage and other beautification themes to make the area more pedestrian friendly. The signage will be reminiscent of the early days of Raton when the horse and buggy still roamed the streets. Along with the trees and flowers there will be bump outs to help with parking and pedestrian street crossing. Main Street had a meeting on April 20 where the public could view the proposed projects and provide feedback to Main Street.
Great Blocks Project Team members are accepting comments and questions regarding the proposed renovations to First Street (between Rio Grande and Park Avenues) which will include sidewalk repairs, ADA compliance, streetscape improvements and public art.
All comments must be received by April 30, 2015 and can be mailed, faxed, or emailed to Robert Loftis, Morrow Reardon Wilkinson Miller, Ltd. (Landscape Architects), 210 La Veta NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, fax: 505-265-9637, email: rloftis@mrwnm.com.
