Under the direction of new head coach Tamara Johnson the Lady Tigers took to the court this week to prepare for the upcoming 2014 volleyball season.

Coach Johnson has enough players this year to have not just a JV and Varsity team but also a “C” team this year and she is looking forward to helping bring up the younger girls and is looking forward to a top team in the years to come if the girls will stick with it. Johnson who’s background is in physical training has been spending the morning practice session doing conditioning.

So far this year two of the seniors are out with torn ACLs that were sustained this last summer in softball games and she wants to prevent that from happening with her girls. She is also wanting the girls to be ready for the sport which means quick response so she is conditioning their quick fire muscles with high intensity interval training.

Johnson knows she has a tough season ahead of her with a new district and fewer returning players. She indicated that some of the sophomores will have to step up and possible play varsity ball.

The Lady Tigers will start out the season at home on August 30 with a match against the Robertson Lady Cardinals followed by West Las Vegas on Sept 2.
