Grass Fire Quickly Extinguished

Raton Fire and Emergency Services personnel were called to the 400 block of Maxwell Street just after 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Upon arrival they found a small grass fire working it’s way up a small hill in a vacant grassy lot between Maxwell and Tenaja Streets in northeast Raton. The blaze was quickly taken care of before it could spread farther up the hill and into a trailer home above it.

The cause of the fire has been ruled as undetermined but suspected to be human caused.
