In Memory of George Lucero

George Lucero, age 77, lost his battle to lung cancer on October 12, 2013 at his home.  George was born September 17, 1936 in Chico, New Mexico.   George was preceded in death by his son, George Louis, his parents, Jim and Lena Lucero, brother, Don Lucero & two nephews. 

 

George is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christine Paulich-Lucero; daughter, LeeAnn McCracken (Mark) of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Jody Romero (Will Burlinson) of Raton; son, David Lucero (Kimberly) of Pueblo West, CO; his sister, Helen Lackey of Fort Davis, TX and sister, Ruth Rand (Tom) of Farmington, NM.  George is also survived by his 5 grandsons, Dillan & Kevin McCracken, John Romero, Landon and Logan Lucero as well as 7 nephews & 4 nieces.

 

George graduated from Raton High School in 1955 and then served in the United States Army.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and retired from P&M Coal Mine in 1994.  George enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and rebuilding tractors and other machinery at his home in Raton.  George’s special love & talent was playing the guitar, bass, steel guitar and piano with local bands and listening to and playing music with his family and friends.  George was a very proud husband, father and grandfather & enjoyed spending time with his family.

 

Visitation will be at the Family Worship Center located at 219 Kearney Avenue in Raton on October 19, 2013 from 10am to 11am followed by the service at 11:00 am with the Reverend David McCarty officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Raton. Fellowship to follow burial will be held at the VFW Hall located at 106 Park Avenue.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Daniels Family Funeral Services of Rio Rancho. www.danielsfuneral.com
