In Loving Memory of Porfirio Sanchez

Porfirio Sanchez age 91 passed away suddenly at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo Colorado on May 15, 2017. 

 

He was born in Trinchera Colorado on March 16, 1926 to Felicta (Tapia) and Jose P. Sanchez who preceded him in death as well as brothers Urbano, Amadeo and sister Elvira Lechuga and sons Lawrence (Aaron) and Anthony (Tony), infant son, and grandson John.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Rose Marie (Barela), son Henry and daughter Mary Ellen (Gerald) Armijo.  Brother and sister-in-law Eloy (Virginia) Sanchez. Daughter-in-law Lorraine. Grandchildren Steve, Gerald Jr., Angelique (Brandon), Monique (Eric), Anthony (Ashley), Lisa (Raul),Tyila (Steven), William, Jami, Ryan, TJ (Melissa).  Numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  

Porfirio was most happy when playing his guitar especially playing Spanish music.  He played in a band back in the day with his two brothers.  You could walk into the house and hear the music playing.   

Porfirio he was very proud to have served in the Army for our country.  He served for 14 months in the front lines in Korea.  

Porfirio cherished and loved all of his family and would do anything for them.  He was a very kind gentle man.  He was always joking up until the very last day.  He took care of his family always. He enjoyed being around people and anyone who knew him would say he was a special man.  

Porfirio worked until his retirement for the Las Animas County as and big machine operator/truck driver. He was very strong willed. 

Porfirio was a cowboy at heart riding horses as a young man even breaking horses for the arearanchers. 

Porfirio attended TJSC receiving a certificate in the building trades. 

Porfirio loved being outside and working around the house and riding his three wheeler. 

Visitation will be Monday from 2PM-6PM at the Comi Chapel.  

Rosary will be Monday May 22, 2017 at 7PM at the Comi Chapel.  

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Church.  

Interment will follow at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery with Full  Military Honors conducted by Ft. CarsonHonor Guard/Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. 

Honorary Pallbearers are Gerald Armijo, Vicente Campos, Austin Campos 

Active Pallbearers are Anthony Sanchez, Steve Sanchez, Gerald Armijo jr., Eloy Sanchez, Oscar Lugo, Raul Campos.
