Mark Andrew Valdez. age 53 of Raton, passed away Tuesday February 14, 2017 in Raton.
He was born June 20, 1963 in Martinez, California the son of Arthur and Nancy Segura-Valdez.
He was a carpenter and loved to be with his family.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Valdez, maternal grandparents, Arthur and Lena Segura, Paternal grandparents, Harvey and Lola Valdez, and brother Charles Valdez and many other family members.
He is survived by his wife Theresa Valdez of Raton, step daughter Ashlee Martinez of Clayton, NM, step son, Lakin Martinez of Clayton, NM, Mother Nancy Valdez of Raton, sisters, Debra Tapia of Raton, Darlene Arteaga and husband Javier of Albuquerque, NM, and Kathern Massey and husband Chad of Mesa, AZ. One brother Harvy A. Valdez of Raton. Nieces Elena Tapia and Gabe, Tina Martinez, Sara Tapia, Melanie Tapia and husband Daniel Romero Miquela Tapia and Dion Jojola, Jesica Arteaga Cruz and husband Filiberto Cruz, and Vanessa M. Valdez and Savannh M. Valdez, Nephews Israel Arteaga and wife Keann and Charles A . Valdez and Harvey E. Valdez and wife Gina. Visitation will be Sunday February 19, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Deacon Tom Alderette. Mass of the resurrection will follow at 10:30 with Father William Woytavich as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will be in the Mt. Calvary cemetery in Raton.

Our love and condolences to the family. Mark will certainly be missed as he was the center of the family’s activities, always the person who made others laugh. He loved parties and he had his biggest party a few days before he passed on. I’m sure that he will continue to laugh and dance in heaven!!!!!! Good-by Mark!!!
