In Loving Memory of Alfonso “Beaver” Casarez

Alfonso “Beaver” Casarez, age 78 passed away peacefully on December 29, 2016 in Raton, New Mexico.

 

Alfonso was born in Dawson, New Mexico to Jose and Maria Elena Casarez. He was a long-time resident of Raton and a member of St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was a coal miner and a member of the UMWA.

 
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Maria Elena Casarez.

 

He is survived by his wife Hazel Casarez of the family home. Also surviving is sister Mary Tafoya and husband John of Raton. Also, surviving are his daughters, Leona Pacheco and husband Ron of Raton, Diana Gomez of Amarillo, Texas, Maria Salas and husband Anthony of Raton, Paula Eckendorf and husband George of Denver, Colorado, sons: Hector Casarez and wife Anna of Raton, Andrew Casarez of Raton, Leonard Casarez and wife Sandra of Raton. Also, survived by 17 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

 
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton with Deacon Tom Alderette followed by the Solemn Mass of The Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant.

 

Rite of Committal and Internment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery.

 

Arrangements for Alfonso “Beaver” Casarez are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.

    My condolences to the family of Alfonso Cazares,his sister Mary and all relatives. May Alfonso rest in peace, he always seemed to be happy, the last time I talked with him was at the Elks Club in Raton back in 2014.
