Dora Louise (Payne) Russell, age 87, died Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Farwell, Texas.
Dora’s family will receive friends at Hass Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Kenneth W. Tidmore and Lynn Clay officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Dora was born September 19, 1929 in Nara Visa, New Mexico to Frank Hewitt Payne and Louise Puder-Payne. She graduated from Logan High School, She was moved up a grade and graduated at 16 as valedictorian of her class. Dora Married Glenn “Buzzy” Russell November 10, 1951 in Gallegos New Mexico and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2012 and they had two children, Casey born in 1953 and Cindy born in 1955. In addition to being a full time ranchers wife, Dora worked at the Clayton Veterinary Clinic and the sale barn in Clayton for forty plus years, Dora loved her jobs and was so proud of the years she worked. She had many friends and was loved by so many and she helped in every way she could to any that asked or were in need. Dora was a lady in every since of the word and it did not matter what she was doing or who she may be seeing, her hair was done, her make was on and she was wearing her best perfume. She was that way up until the very end, even the staff at the Care Center commented on it and how she wouldn’t go to the lunch room unless she was looking her best. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend – she was all this and more and Heaven is celebrating her coming home while we are left to miss her hugs, her laughter and her wonderful self. So many have said, “To know Dora was to love her, but to be loved by her was one of God’s greatest blessings”. In addition to her parents and husband Dora was preceded in death by a son; Casey Russell and by 2 brothers; Charles Payne and Bob Payne.

1 DAUGHTER: Cindy Russell of Clovis New Mexico.
4 GRANDCHILDREN: Hadley Gilbert and his wife Kim and Miles Moulder and his wife Angela all of Clovis, New Mexico, Mandy Fuqua and her husband Jason of Caldwell, Texas and Amber Russell-Hart and her husband Al of Las Vegas, Nevada.
6 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Jake Gilbert, Scarlett Gilbert, Bryce Moulder, Brie Moulder, Ashton Hart and Athan Hart.
2 Brothers: Jim Payne and his wife Irene of Logan, New Mexico and David Payne and his wife Anna Mae of Clarksville, Arkansas.
1 Sister: Lora Beth Williams of Logan, New Mexico.
And many beloved nieces and nephews.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Dora’s memory to the Clayton Senior Citizens Center.
