The wind not only blew it blew the dust around causing delays in the game with Taos Tuesday afternoon at Jim Wade Field in Raton. 30-35 plus mph winds blew in from centerfield blowing up dust as batters took to the plate and catchers shielded their eyes from the dust.

The wind also made things difficult for both batters and fielders as fly balls would just get out of the infield and fall like a rock in the outfield or foul balls behind the plate went erratic making it hard for the catcher to not only find the ball but judge where to be when it came down. Despite the wind Raton batters belted the ball just far enough to move base runners and get on base.

Raton pitcher Natasha Archuleta held Taos batters at bay as Taos went three up three down in the first and only did four up three out in the second. Raton started the scoring off in the first with three runs as Archuleta took first on balls followed by Andie Ortega hit into left. The ladies finished it off with three runs in the first and added one in the third.

Raton managed to bring two runners around in the fifth and again in the sixth to make it an 8-2 game going into the seventh where Archuleta once again performed her magic striking out one batter and only allowing two hits to third for outs.

The Lady Tigers continue their winning streak after another big weekend in tourney play winning the Tohatchi tourney and toppling Taos 8-2. The Lady Tigers will once again play Thursday with Santa Rosa at Jim Wade Field.
