Joe A. Santistevan, 78, passed away, Sunday, November 22, 2015, at MCMC Hospital in Raton. He was born on January 2, 1937 in Maxwell, NM.
Joe was a 1956 graduate of Springer High School and later was employed by Gambles for 2 years. He then became employed by Springer Electric Cooperative from November 1958 until his retirement in December 2001.
Joe taught himself how to weld and created many things, from trailers and fences to furniture.
Joe leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Martha of Springer; daughter, Serena Santistevan-Roy and husband Anthony Roy and son Bryce of Lakewood, WA; one brother, Pablo Santistevan and wife Anna; one sister, Molly Fernandez; one sister-in-law, Maria-Consuelo Chavez all of Springer; one Aunt, Marie Rodriguez and husband Juan of Santa Fe and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Joey, Greg and Gabriel; parents, George and Jennie Santistevan; sisters, Marcella White and Mary Helen Santistevan; his in-laws, Bences and Bertha Chavez; brother-in-law, David Chavez and numerous uncles and aunts.
Recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 1st at 9:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer followed by the Solemn Mass of the Resurrection With Father Izuka as the celebrant.
