In Loving Memory of Macario Salamon “Max” Sanchez

Macario Salamon “Max” Sanchez, age 79, died Thursday, November 13, 2014, in Clayton, New Mexico. 

Rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 16 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 17 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico. Fr. Joel Bugas will be the Celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Parish Hall following funeral services. Burial procession will leave Clayton at 1:00 p.m. for Internment at the Ojo Bonito Cemetery on the Barney Ranch west of Clayton. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. 

Macario Salamon “Max” Sanchez was born on July 2, 1935 in Barney, New Mexico to Macario Damian Sanchez and Maria Inez (Martinez) Sanchez. Max was born and raised in the Barney community and lived their all of his life until he retired and moved into Clayton just a few years ago. He served in the US Army for a few years and then returned to Barney where he served on numerous boards in Union County throughout his life and he was voted Union County Pioneer in 2007. Max married Joyce A. (Montoya) Sanchez on September 15, 1962 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on June 21, 2009. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents and wife, Max was preceded in death by a brother, Damian Sanchez and a brother-in-law, Valentine Miera. 

SURVIVORS: 

2 DAUGHTERS: Stephanie Sanchez and Dawn of Austin, Texas and Dolores Marquez and Ken of Alamosa, Colorado. 

1 SON: Michael Sanchez of Mosquero, New Mexico. 

6 GRANDCHILDREN: Samantha Sanchez of Denver, Colorado, Michaelena Garcia and Juan of Longmont, Colorado, Katina Sanchez of Clovis, New Mexico, Alexandria Marquez of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kendra Marquez of Durango, Colorado and Garrett Marquez of Ft. Collins, Colorado. 

2 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Adian and Xavier Garcia of Longmont, Colorado. 

3 SISTERS: Irene Miera of Beenham, New Mexico, Fidelia Taylor and Jimmy of Clayton, New Mexico and Frances Robbins of Westminster, Colorado. 

1 BROTHER: Silviano Sanchez of Aztec, New Mexico. 

And many nephews and nieces and dear friends
