In Loving Memory of Nancy Marie Felten

She was born Nancy Marie Mesaric on March 13, 1936 in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, Her life was one of many tragedies and celebrations. She was special and dear to all who knew her.

Nancy  came to New Mexico in the early 1970’s. with her husband and two daughters to start a new life away from the hustle and bustle of  Long Beach, California. Nancy lived in the communities of Raton, Cimarron and Roy and was well known through out Northeastern New Mexico for her friendliness and smile. Nancy eventually settled in Mills where she finished raising her daughters and was a Rancher and the Post Master of the Mills Post Office, a position she held for 28 years. She was also an active member of the Mesa Soil and Water Board for many years. Nancy loved her post office job and really enjoyed watching TV. She liked to read about Hollywood and loved to go shopping. She loved the peace and quiet of the ranch and loved to check the cows and their water and was willing to do it every day. She was an awesome mother and was very thankful to have both her daughters living close to her through out their lives.  More than anything else though, she loved being a Grandmother. Nancy became “Meme” when her eldest granddaughter Victoria  reached  out for her and said ” My Meme”  After that, she was known by all of the children of Roy and Mosquero as Meme.

Nancy was blessed with 6 grandchildren first Victoria followed by Brandon, Chase, Jessica, Jacob and Eric and from them she had 5 Great Grandchildren. She spent every moment she could following them around and tried hard to be at every event or game they had from grade school through their college years.

Nancy is survived by her daughters Lori and Sheila. Lori is a Special Education Teacher at Raton High School. Her husband Allen Herron is a rancher near Roy.They are the parents of Brandon of Bosque Farms and Jacob of Clayton. Brandon is the Father of Meme’s 5th Great Grandchild, a son, Cameron.

Sheila is a Homemaker and is married to Otto Fluhman. Together with Ernest, they are Ranchers and owners of Fluhman Brothers Trucking. They are the parents of Victoria Hansen of Texas, Chase Fluhman of Texas,  Jessica Roach of Canyon Texas, and Eric Fluhman of Mills. Victoria is Mother to  daughter Macy and son Chinch, and Jessica is mother to son Damon and daughter Brooklyn, all Meme’s first 4 Great Grandchildren.

She is survived by two of her brothers along with their families, George Mulleneix of Tucson, Arizona and Lawrence Mesaric of Kingman, Arizona (formally of Cimarron)

Nancy spent the past 5 years with her husband Willis Bowman and together they built a home in Grady, She was blessed to have him and that she was able to spend every moment possible with her Great grandchildren. They were her life and she felt extra lucky to get to know them.

Nancy passed peacefully with Willis at her side on Thursday November 6th.  She requested cremation and did not wish to have a memorial. She had tragically lost many loved ones in her life (her first born son and husbands) and found funerals to be unbearable. Our family request is to direct all cards and letters to Willis at 320 Ware St. in Grady.
