Don J. Martinez age 87 of Raton passed away on July 15th 2014. He was born on January 12th 1927 to Don Juan and Emma Martinez in Palo Blanco, New Mexico.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Corina Martinez who passed away on August 30th 2013, sisters; Emma, Cordelia, and Francis. He is survived by daughters; Donna Smith of San Antonio, TX, Diana Stevens of Las Vegas, NV, sons; Michael Martinez and wife Janette of Raton, NM, Danny Martinez of Los Lunas, NM, Patrick and wife Nicole of Lompoc, CA, sisters; Jennie Avila of Canon City, CO, and Ester Overby of Santa Fe, NM.
Don loved to do masonry work and in his retirement years loved gardening and to play Black Jack.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday July 19th 2014 at 10:30am recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:00am with Father John Trambley as celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment will take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
