In Memory of Fannie Maude Flaming

Fannie Maude Flaming age 93 of Arrey, New Mexico passed away on January 29, 2014 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. She was born on July 21, 1920 to Oscar Lee and Amy B. Cooper in Snyder, Oklahoma.

Fannie grew up in Snyder, Ok then went to school for nursing in Topeka, KS. After getting her degree in nursing she moved to Capulin, NM where she met her husband Paul Flaming. They were married in 1952 and their marriage lasted over 40 years until Paul’s passing in 1996. She worked as an RN in Oklahoma and at both Old Miners Hospital and Miners Colfax Medical Center in Raton. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years. Fannie was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a valued member of her community. She loved to quilt and crochet and even after losing most of her sight she was still able to crochet just by memory and feel alone.

Fannie is preceded in death by her loving husband Paul, her parents, sisters Loriene and Clara, brothers Gillie, Omer, Elmer, and Clarence.

She is survived by daughters Sandra Kay and companion Ron VanHooser, of Bonham, TX; Paula G. Florance and husband Kevin of Jacksboro, TX; Cathy Gerard of Colorado Springs, CO; Beverly Ary and husband Michael of Arrey, NM; sister Velma Bertch of Winters, TX; and brother Martin Cooper of Georgia. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members.

A viewing will be held on Sunday February 2, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm in the Chapel of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home. A graveside service for Fannie will be held on Monday February 3, 2014 at 11am in the Capulin Cemetery in Capulin, New Mexico with Pastor John Struill officiating.

Funeral Services for Fannie Flaming are under the care and direction of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral home of Raton.
