In Memory of Edward Robert Hamilton

Bob passed away peacefully on Sept 14, 2013 in Raton.  Known affectionately as “Sheriff Bob”, he was a long time resident of Raton and the Whittington Center.  

Born in New Jersey, in 1929, he led a very colorful life working for RCA for 40 years.  After his retirement in 1987 Bob worked his way west and arrived at the Whittington Center in 1989, and never left. Bob spent his remaining years as a volunteer at the Center.  He was instrumental in making the Whittington Center the best shooting, hunting, and destination recreation facility in the country.  Whatever was needed, bob was there to help.  Whether it was running errands, help with electrical installations or providing after hours security and gate checks – Bob always took care of it..  Bob’s biggest love was the Whittington Center, he was a Founder, Trailblazer, and Patriot member.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.  he is survived by several nieces and nephews, and his “extended family” at the Center.  Bob will be sorely missed.  According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial will be announced in the near future.
