On Friday, August 22, 2025, Stella Lilly Marquez, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 86.
Stella was born on August 20, 1939, in Chico, NM, to Ralph and Eugenia Medina, the middle child of three girls.
Stella had five Children, Connie, Pete, Ralph, Patricia, and Debbie Martinez, before she met the love of her life, Roger (Doomie) Marquez. After marrying Roger on April 11, 1975, their immediate family expanded from seven to eleven members as they added four more children: John, Ernesto, Larry, and June Marquez.
Stella was the sweetest, feistiest, and most amazing mother and grandmother, bringing immense joy to her family. She was also a working woman who spent many years as a maid for the Holiday Inn and Family Practice of Raton. Stella enjoyed music, dancing, and her beloved dog, Chiquita. She loved her telenovels and took great interest in cooking, with her specialties being homemade bread and Tortillas. Stella also took great pride in helping raise her 15 grandchildren, eight boys and seven girls.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Eugenia Medina, her husband of 40 years, Roger (Doomie) Marquez, Her Children, Connie Martinez, John Ernesto Marquez, and June Marquez. Her Sister, Viola (Puppet) Medina. Her grandson, Jose Martinez, and Granddaughter Renee Martinez, as well as great-granddaughter Aubree Marquez.
Stella is survived by her sister Lucy Pacheco (Pete) of Raton, NM. Her children Jose (Pete) Martinez (Donna) of Raton, NM, Ralph Martinez (Paula) of Monte Vista CO, Debbie Quintana (Brad) of Raton, NM, Patricia Butch (Everett) of Raton, NM, Larry Marquez (Denise) of Raton, NM, Ernesto Marquez (Mary) of Pueblo CO and Special Daughter in law Marie (Yogi) Martinez of Pueblo, CO
Stella is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, too numerous to name but not forgotten.

Stella’s Children would like to extend their unconditional appreciation to Dr. Leonardo Lopez, as well as the entire staff at MCMC Long-term Care, who took exceptional care of their mother.
A private memorial service and burial have been held, and arrangements were made under the direction of Alderette–Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
