Julia “Nina” Silva, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in her hometown of Weston, Colorado. A proud native of Weston, she was born there on September 18, 1942, and remained deeply rooted in the land and community that shaped her life.
Affectionately known as Nina by her close family, Julia was a cherished third-generation rancher and cowgirl. Born into a large and loving family as one of ten children to Jacinto and Eduvigen Silva, she embodied the enduring spirit of dedication and resilience that defined her heritage. Her life on the ranch was not just a livelihood but a calling—one that connected her to generations past and instilled in her a profound respect for hard work, nature, and tradition.
Julia’s days were filled with purpose and joy. She found peace in gardening, strength in prayer, and delight in simple pleasures like playing gin rummy and solving crossword puzzles. These hobbies reflected her thoughtful nature and sharp mind. Whether tending to the land or enjoying quiet moments at home, she approached life with grace and gratitude.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her identity. A devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, San Isidro Catholic Church, and St. Ignatius Catholic Church throughout her life, Julia’s spiritual commitment guided her actions and offered comfort to those around her. Her presence at church events and services was a source of inspiration to many in the community.
Julia is survived by her beloved siblings: Isabell of Rociada, NM; Alfred of Greeley, CO; Carmen of Trinidad, CO; Chris of Greeley, CO; and John of Denver, CO. She also leaves behind a large extended family including numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who will carry forward the values she held dear.
She now joins in eternal rest her parents Jacinto and Eduvigen Silva; sisters Theresa, Tilly, Marie (Pita), and Anna Marie; aunt Charlotte; and aunt Estephanita.
Julia’s legacy is one of love—love for family, for faith, for the land she called home. Her warmth touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she enriched through kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion.
