Bank employees and officials were on hand along with local dignitaries Friday afternoon August 1, 2025, for the official ground breaking for the new InBank building in south Raton.
In August of 2023 InBank held a presentation at the main branch in downtown Raton to announce that the main branch building had indeed been sold and that the bank would be building a new modern banking facility on the south branch property in south Raton. Time has moved on and plans have changed. According to Ed Francis CEO of InBank rising construction costs along with other factors had put a hold on the construction project. The Washington Federal building became available so InBank saw the opportunity to revitalize an existing structure and bought the building in order to keep another building in Raton from going into ruins. The bank will spend over a million dollars on the location noted Francis in his remarks Friday to revitalize the space and support downtown redevelopment and encourage further investment in the community.
Later Francis noted that they possibly have a buyer for the south branch building therefore creating a win-win for Raton and not letting another building go vacant. Archuleta Construction will begin work on the site around August 4th, 2025. On September 15, 2025, operations at the south branch will be consolidated at the main branch until construction is completed by the end of November 2025. The new bank will feature four drive through slots for customer connivence.
