1943 – 2025

Tony Torres was born and raised in Trinidad, Colorado. A proud graduate of Trinidad High School, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1972, including active duty during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 with the 5th Marine Division. His service earned him several commendations, including the National Defense Service MedalVietnam Campaign Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Medal.

After returning home, Tony worked as a ranch foreman at the Donnelly Ranch in Kim, Colorado, until 1974. That year, he moved his family—including his wife Linda (later divorced), daughter Lisa, and son Matt—to San Diego, California. There, he began working for Cordova Plumbing and Repair, eventually becoming the owner. He remained in San Diego until his retirement in 2013.

In 2011, Tony married Christa Lou Mitrovich. Upon retiring, Tony returned to Trinidad to be near his beloved mother, Della Torres, brother Felix (Boris) Torres, brother George Torres and sister-in-law June.   He lived in Trinidad until May 2025, when he moved to the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center in Walsenburg, Co. He passed away on July 20, 2025.

Tony was a devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend. To know him was to love him. He had a deep passion for all things country—music, dancing, ranching, and rodeos. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed.
