Carolyn Sue Towndrow, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2025, at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, ending her three-year struggle with Vascular Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease.
Sue was born September 13, 1941, to Robert Clark and Dorothy Virginia (Howser) Duffendack in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Washington High School in 1959 and married Robert Arthur Towndrow in Kansas City, KS that same year. Over the next 21 years, she lived the life of a military wife. Moving every few years, the family traveled from Kansas City to Millington, TN to Olathe, KS to Buena Park, CA to Marietta, GA to Jacksonville, FL and finally her last move as a military wife, to San Jose, CA. Sue held several jobs over the years but was most proud of her almost 30 years as an Enrolled Agent at Deloitte & Touche in San Jose, California. In 2006, she retired and moved to Folsom, NM to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She was just the best GiGi to all of her grand-loves.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother in 1973, her father in 1998 and her bonus mom, Jean Duffendack in 2017. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Lisa) Towndrow, Raton, NM; daughter, Kim (Brad) Atwater, Folsom, NM. Grandchildren: Robert “Bobby” (Frances) Towndrow, Millington, TN; Kelsey (Colton) Milson, Colorado Springs, CO; Amber Atwater Smith, Folsom, NM; Brandy (Chris) Schear, Folsom, NM; Jamie (Chris) Moehring, Folsom, NM; James “Tremor” (Jessica) Atwater, Amarillo, TX. Great-Grandchildren: Madelyn Towndrow, Luke & Sena Milson, Jadyn Atwater, Kianna, Jadeveon & Kai Smith, Braeden, Adley, Lainey & Laityn Schear, Tucker, Hunter & Zoe Moehring and Drew Atwater. Brother, Don Duffendack (Cotacachi, Ecuador), Sister, Linda (Ross) Loria, Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by her dog Minnie, who was her best friend!
At her request, cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside service for family at a later date.
