Janet Lee Montera, 82, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away peacefully at her home on May 30,
2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, daughter, cousin, and
friend whose warmth, intelligence, and adventurous spirit touched all who knew her. A talented
writer and communicator, Janet had a way with words that made others feel heard, understood,
and loved. Her family was the heart of her world, and she dedicated her life to keeping them
connected through every season.
Janet’s legacy lives on in the many lives she nurtured, the words she left behind, and the love
she so freely gave. Her strength, sincerity, and grace will be deeply missed.
She will be laid to rest in her hometown of Trinidad, Colorado, following private family services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Janet’s memory by planting something
meaningful in your own “garden” — as she once wrote, “The ground remains barren only if I
choose never to plant a garden.”

In Loving Memory of Janet Lee Montera
