In Loving Memory of Cleofes “Cleo” Barela

Cleofes Barela went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2025. He was 84 years old. Cleo was born
on July 6, 1940, in Trinidad, CO., to Carmelita (Duran) and Reynaldo Barela. He was preceded
in death by his parents and two sisters, Vicky and Gloria. Cleo is survived by his sisters, Francis
Browning, Grace Barela, and JoAnn (Louis) Santistevan. He is survived by his nieces and
nephews: Charles, Renee, Lindsay, Bryna, Sonya, Myra, Audrey, Carmela, Reynaldo, Priscilla,
and Victoria and also preceded by his great nephews and nieces; Orion, Josef, Liam, Andrea,
Madison, Malia, Shyla, Harper, Avery and Eden.
Cleo resided at the Adams Group home. He loved watching Westerns, especially if they
included John Wayne. He loved to listen to and collect radios and had quite a collection. He also
enjoyed playing his vinyl records and watching the Denver Broncos, where he would drink his
O’Douls beer. Yet, without a doubt, he will be remembered for his smile, how he would joke with
others, and his devotional love for trains.
Cleo will have a viewing on Wednesday, May 21st at 3:00 till 6:00 pm for the public. His services
will be on Thursday, May 22nd, at 1 pm at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel. Honorable
pallbearers are Max Montano, John Russel Langfitt, Nicolas Davila, Conner Ryan, and Cleo’s
housemates. Active Pallbearers are Reynaldo Santistevan, Joshua Stratton, Audrey
Santistevan, Charles Lotz, Louis Santistevan, and Delfino Vigil.
Cleo will be dearly missed by all who were able to share in his light.
