Lucille Adelaida Derrera, beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, in
Pueblo, Colorado, at the age of 86.
Born on January 21, 1939, in Sopris, Colorado, Lucille was the cherished daughter of Manuel
Griego and Daisy Muniz. As the oldest daughter in a family of 15 children, she grew into a
strong, nurturing presence early in life—helping to raise her younger siblings and earning her
place as a second mother in their hearts.
Lucille loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Her life was rooted in love, sacrifice, and
devotion to those she held dear. She married at a young age and had five children with Filberto
Munoz, embracing motherhood with grace and determination. Later in life, she found her
soulmate and the great love of her life, Eugene Derrera. Together, they opened their hearts
again through the adoption of their son, Gary.
Family was Lucille’s purpose and joy. She poured her strength and warmth into generations of
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren—each of
whom carries a piece of her enduring legacy. She is survived by her devoted daughter Mary
Garth and loving son Manuel Munoz, along with countless descendants who will remember her
as the heart of the family.
Lucille’s life was a testament to resilience, unconditional love, and the quiet power of a woman
who held her family together the best she could through the decades. Her memory will be
treasured always.
Her services will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at 1:00pm at Holy Trinity Church.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life and legacy following her services
