With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved grandpa, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Isidro Lopez. He left this world on April 30th, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on January 20th, 1958, to Dolores and Jose Lopez in Clayton, New Mexico. Isidro (Chilo) Lopez was born and raised in Clayton, New Mexico, where he graduated in 1976. He played football throughout high school. He was also the president of the Spanish Club. After graduation, Isidro joined the U.S. Navy. After his time in the Navy, he returned to Clayton, his hometown, until he moved to Raton to be closer to his children and grandchildren in 2020.
Isidro’s life was lived every day dedicated to his grandchildren and children. He loved the outdoors and his New Mexican music. He was an amazing cook. He was always feeding everyone. Not a person could walk through his door without being offered a meal. He had a joke for every occasion and loved to make people laugh. He spent his days doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire, and entertaining his youngest grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Emilia, 3 sisters Gloria, Mercedes, Veronica, 2 brothers Juan, Orlando, and soul mate Cynthia Lopez. He is survived by his sister Carmen, Brothers Alberto (Bert) and Porfirio (Porky), Son Marcus Lopez and Wife (Sherri) of Albuquerque, Son Mario Lopez and wife (Cynthia) of Amarillo, Son Archie Borquez and wife (Erica) of Albuquerque, Daughter Monique of Raton and Son Isidro E. Lopez and wife (TieAnna) of Raton, 8 Grand Children (Erica, Anthony, Avery, Angelica, William, Athena, Margaret, and Atreyu), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home in Raton, NM, on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, from 1-3 p.m.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be at St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Raton, NM, Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.
Arrangements for Isidro Lopez are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
