Douglas “D-R” Wilkiel, 79, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026. He was born on September 14, 1946.
Douglas was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lillian and Raymond Wilkiel. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Carol Tvrdik; his niece, Nicole Hering; his nephew, Kevin Tvrdik; and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Known affectionately as “D-R,” Douglas was a quiet, thoughtful man whose introspective nature shaped the way he lived. He had a deep passion for spirituality and found peace through meditation. He valued reflection, inner growth, and living a life guided by mindfulness and compassion. Those who knew him will remember his gentle presence, calm spirit, and the sincerity with which he approached life. He wanted us all to continue to “walk the path” and he said that in a book he read it says that “leaving the body is bliss to the yogi.”
Douglas’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he has departed this world, the peace he sought and the kindness he shared remain with those who loved him.
“Live quietly in the moment and see the beauty all before you. The future will take care of itself” – Paramahansa Yogananda
