Raton city commissioners gathered at City Hall for a special meeting covering the Kearny School project and other agreements.
The first item on the agenda dealt with change orders for the Kearny School Project which includes the installation of insulation within the reconstructed exterior wall assemblies and replacement of the potable water service line to the mechanical room due to a leak.
Change order No.4 will cost about $10,675.55 while change order No.5 will cost about $34,791.21 for full replacement of the water line. Mayor Pro-Tem Honeyfield questioned the cost of the 125 feet of copper water line and what the specifications for the project are. Commissioners approved both change orders with Mayor Pro-Tem Honeyfield voting no for a 4-1 yes vote.
Vigil & Associates Architectural Group, P.C. is asking for a fee amendment for Phase 1B of the Kearny School Project. The cost for the Phase 1B portion of the project is $26,428. Phase 1B of the project is to cover updating the necessary electrical infrastructure to the building and to update the XR Studio and related spaces to functional capacity. This fee is for redesign from the original design.
The commission approved the third renewal of the contract with Engineering Analytics, Inc for another year. The agreement covers consulting services as well as engineering work for the city. This is the third renewal of the three year contract agreement originally entered into in 2023.
The City of Raton and the Department of Finance entered into a grant agreement in 2025 for enhanced 911 services and equipment for $478,098.00. The department has authorized an amendment to the agreement for an additional $33,717 for a total of $511,815.00.
The next regular meeting for the Raton City Commission will be held on April 14, 2026 a 6:00 p.m. in the commission chambers.
