Message from our Solid Waste Coordinator
Thank you to all the Colfax County Solid Waste customers for being patient and understanding as we continuously work towards a permanent solution and solid waste pick-up schedule with Tri-State.
Per our last meeting with Tri-State (March 1st, 2023), Tri-State advised us that they have purchased a new trash truck and are actively working to hire a local driver for the Colfax County Area. In the meantime, they will be sending drivers from Dalhart at least 2 days a week (meaning each dumpster should be hit at least once a week).
We as the county have been and will continue to monitor the sites to keep them clean and make sure Tristate is coming when stated. We have observed a significant improvement in the last week. The road department has done an amazing job at keeping the county roads clean to help with pick up on county roads. The county has offered to train Tri-State employees with chaining up.
The extra roll-offs placed around the county will be picked up as they are full and will not be replaced if Tri-State continues to move in a positive direction.
We appreciate the calls from county citizens thanking us and noticing the improvements. With Colfax County citizens’ cooperation and understanding, we will be able to return to normal operation.
Feel free to call or email Virginia Strohm with any questions or concerns regarding Solid Waste. Please use our main number (575) 445-9661 extension 7703 and email is vstrohm@co.colfax.nm.us.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
