Stella Elsie Trujillo, age 78, passed away peacefully in her home in Tucumcari NM, the evening of February 14th, 2025 with her family by her side.
Stella was born in Springer, NM, on July 11th, 1946 to Chano and Lucy Cordova. She is preceded in death and will be greeted at Heaven’s gates by both of her parents, brothers- Fred, Orlando, and Charlie Cordova, as well as two grandchildren- Derek and Lauren Nolan, Mother- in- Law Guadalupe Trujillo, and Sister-in- Law Beatrice Harrington .
Stella is survived by her husband Tony Trujillo, four children- Gilbert Romero and wife Angela, Christine Romero, Paul Nolan Jr., and Glenn Nolan, two brothers- Eddy Cordova and wife Priscilla, Gary Cordova and wife Theresa, nine grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Above all things, Stella was a devoted wife of 28 years to husband Tony Trujillo, and a loving mother and grandmother of many. Stella would go above and beyond for her family and loved spending time with each and every one of them as often as possible. She began her journey of motherhood in 1967 to her first born son, Gilbert Romero and two years later she was blessed with her only daughter Christine Romero. In 1974, she and Paul Nolan Sr., welcomed their first son, Paul Jr. and youngest son, Glenn Nolan, in 1981. She managed the household duties all while being a mother of four, and balanced three jobs in the community of Springer. A few years later, she met the love of her life, Tony, in Maxwell NM. Stella and Tony began their marriage, in September of 1997. They began building their life together in Tucumcari, NM where so many beautiful memories would be made. Amongst the many hobbies she had at home to keep herself busy, she managed rental homes, and also managed the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari. Walking into the house and seeing her sing and dance along to New Mexico Spanish Music is a memory that will be with all of us forever. In recent years Stella spent most of her days at home cleaning and cooking for her family, and of course helping raise her grandchildren, Alexus and Elena. She cared so much for the people around her, often giving motivation and words of encouragement. Stella stood by her family through thick and thin. We have all been blessed to know Stella in one way or another and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts. She had such a beautiful life and I know she was so thankful for everyone in it. Through her wonderful years, she made many friends and loved her family endlessly. Her love and memories will forever be held in our hearts.
Funeral for Stella will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer NM, on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 10 o’clock AM. Interment will be held in Tucumcari, NM at a later date.
The family of Stella thanks everyone for their condolences, thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time, and thank you to everyone who knew, loved, and shared memories with her. May God bless you all.
