In Loving Memory of Glenn Scott Ley

Glenn Scott Ley, Raton, NM native, passed away at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, TX on October 24, 2024 at the age of 59. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Robi Ley, and two step-sons, David Stephenson and James Stephenson, all of Denton, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Ley and Sue Ley, of Raton, NM and his grandparents. He leaves behind three brothers, Fred Ley and wife Betty, Bruce Ley, and Aaron Ley, several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Scott, his preferred name, was born and raised in Raton, NM. After graduating from Raton High School in 1984, he joined the US Air Force. He served his enlistment term at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX, Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX, and Cannon AFB, Clovis, NM. He served as a Crew Chief for the F-111B fighter aircraft and was always proud to have his name on the side of the jet. While stationed at Cannon, he met and married Robi Whinery, readily accepting her boys into his life as well.

Scott and Robi and family lived for a time in California but soon moved back to Raton to raise their boys close to Scott’s family. After both boys graduated High School, the couple moved to Texas, Robi’s home state.

Early in 2024, Scott was diagnosed with cancer, and endured both chemo and radiation therapies, but succumbed to complications. He passed away at the hospital.

At his request, he was cremated after any viable organs were donated to help other individuals. The family will inter his ashes at a small gathering at11:00 am on March 8, 2025, at the Grenville Cemetery in Grenville, NM.
