Gilbert San Roman
( July 31, 1932 – January 18, 2025 )
Gilbert San Roman was born July 31, 1932, to Dario and Julia San Roman in Brilliant, NM. He lived there until 1951 when the mine was closing and moved to Raton, where he lived the rest of his life. He passed away on January 18, 2025.
Gilbert was #7 of 10 children who are all deceased except sister Nellie who lives in California.
He is survived by his wife Betty of 72 years, four sons, Gilbert Jr. and wife Dom of Raton, Arthur and companion Joanne Brenner of Rowlett, TX. Terry San Roman and Sharon of Raton, Robert and wife Marisol of Albuquerque. 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Gilbert worked at Khoeler Coal Mine until drafted into the Army in 1952. He served two years in Germany and France. Upon returning to his family in Raton, he was employed by ARF for 18 years. He then returned to coal mining in Colorado until retirement.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his wife and sons.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Arrangements for Gilbert San Roman are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
