In Loving Memory of David Virgil Sowers

David Virgil Sowers, age 69, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas.

Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Sowers Ranch, 21 Sowers Road, Clayton, New Mexico with Jerry Lee Rice, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton’s Hass Funeral Directors.

David Virgil Sowers was born on June 8, 1955, in Clayton, New Mexico to Virgil Carrington Sowers and Jimmie Nell (Craft) Sowers. A lifelong resident of Union County, David graduated from Clayton High School in 1973. David married Joyce Ann (Sewell) Sowers on June 28, 1975, in Felt, Oklahoma. He worked most of his life in the cattle business and nothing pleased him more than when the calves started hitting the ground in the spring. He started Sowers Construction Company and enjoyed building furniture and buildings all over the area. David made you understand what you want to be as a father and he supported you no matter what and was always understanding. Preceded in death by his father Virgil Sowers on June 20, 1995, his mother Jimmie Nell Sowers on February 13, 2013, and by a son Jason Sowers on September 18, 1995.

SURVIVORS:

WIFE: Joyce Sowers of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Will Sowers and his wife CiCi and Zack Sowers all of Clayton, New Mexico.

5 GRANDCHILDREN: Reagan Sowers, Collin Sowers, Calvin Sowers, Luke Sowers and Lincoln Sowers.

1 BROTHER-IN-LAW: Dennis Sewell of Clayton, New Mexico.
