Tammy Lynn (Mayhew) Hiss, 63, of Hoehne, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly into the arms of Jesus on December 15, 2024. She was born on February 8, 1961, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Darrell and Beverly (Collis) Mayhew. She married Duane Alan Hiss on July 11, 1981, in Great Bend, Kansas, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and faith. Tammy loved Duane very much, and she is now happy to be reunited with him in eternity.
Tammy was a very happy and social person who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. She was a friend to all, always willing to help anyone in need with kindness and an open heart. She was known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Tammy loved playing board games with her grandkids, family and friends, creating cherished memories full of laughter and friendly competition. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and care, and her strength, kindness, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving family. Her three daughters: Amanda and her husband Eric Vialpando of Walsenburg, Colo.; Megan Hiss of Guymon, Okla.; and Taylor and her husband Trey Wilcox of Colby, Kansas. Her cherished grandchildren: Elsie Vialpando, Elijah Vialpando, Ezekiel Vialpando, Reid Wilcox, Ryker Homm, Reagan Wilcox, Ezra Vialpando, Tripp Homm, and Wesson Homm. Her brother, Creig Mayhew and his wife Mary of Oklahoma City, Okla. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane Hiss; her parents, Darrell and Beverly Mayhew; her mother-in-law, Elsie Hiss; and nephew Clinton Mayhew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Family viewing will be from 3:00pm to 4:00pm and public viewing will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Comi Funeral Home, 1804 E. Main Street, Trinidad, CO 81082. Funeral services will take place on Friday, December 27, 2024, 10:00am at First Christian Church of Trinidad, 200 S. Walnut, Trinidad, CO 81082. Interment will be at the Tercio Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tammy’s honor to the Las Animas County 4-H Foundation, in care of Lori Arnhold at the LAC/CSU Extension office.
