In Loving Memory of Robert “Bob” Compton

Robert “Bob” Compton was born on September 23, 1948 in Trinidad, Colorado, and died
peacefully at home in Cheyenne, Wyoming with the autumn sunshine on his face on September
25, 2024.
Bob graduated from Trinidad Catholic High School (1966), and Arizona State University (1971)
continuing to make forever friends and memories wherever he went as he would do throughout
his life. Bob worked a number of jobs, making a career at the Trinidad Fire Department and with
his painting business. Bob gave his all to everything: family, loving, friendship, working, playing
sports, relaxing, trying new things, and making people laugh. He had a wonderful ability to see
and take people and circumstances as, and for, what they were without judgment. By doing this
everyone wanted to be around Bob because you felt “seen”.
Bob married the love of his life, Teresa Arant, on June 24, 1972 at St. Joseph Parish in Trinidad,
and together they were proud parents of three children. He was everyone’s favorite uncle and
neighborhood dad sharing his silly antics and kind words without fail. He had an outgoing
personality and never met a person with whom he didn’t strike up a conversation. No matter
where he went he touched the lives of people he met, whether it was for a moment or a lifetime,
and he will be greatly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Louise Compton, sister, Vivian
Compton, and daughter, Julia Compton. He is survived by his wife and children, Sarah Compton
and Bobby (Koreen Zelasko) Compton, grandchildren Emily, Tristan, Angela, Lily, Mick, Wilson,
Pete and Marshall. His siblings, Tom, Dick, “Peach” and Sue, their “outlaws”, numerous nieces,
nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
