Bennie Floyd Ketchum, Jr. (born in 1953), the son of Bennie Floyd Ketchum, Sr., and Charlotte
“Pat” Ketchum. Passed away Tuesday, April 9th, in Trinidad, Colorado. He was predeceased by
his wife, Dianne Fayland Ketchum (born in 1956), daughter of Isidore and Anne Fayland, who
passed away in Ponchatoula, Louisiana in June of 2005. Married for 25 years, Bennie and Dianne
had three children: Brandee Ketchum (spouse Josh Dyer); Phillip Aaron Ketchum; and Jesse
Alexander Ketchum (fiance Brooke Jackson). During the time between Dianne’s passing and
Bennie’s passing, eight grandchildren were born – Payton Aaron Ketchum, Pierce Alexander
Ketchum, Philip Albert Ketchum, Jackson Anthony Ketchum, Marlowe Dianne Dyer, Isaac
Zapha Dyer, Selah Grace Ketchum, and Sophie Psalm Ketchum.
Bennie and Dianne are survived by two siblings, three children, eight grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, and many other relatives and long-standing family friends. They loved hosting
celebrations, boiling seafood, gardening, and learning. Bennie played guitar, wrote songs, and
loved John Prine; Dianne loved to read and cook. Married in winter in the home of Bennie and
Pat, they built a small family of modest means but abundant laughter and encouragement.
No services are planned, as Bennie was a private man who preferred to celebrate rather than
mourn.
Arrangements made under the care of Comi Funeral Home
