Frank Antonucci

Frank Antonucci, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully at Miners Colfax Medical Center after a short illness on Saturday, February 24, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born February 15, 1934, in Arpino, Italy recently celebrating his 90th birthday. His mother died when he was a child and he was raised by his two older sisters Maria and Anita. His father, Antonio Antonucci, immigrated to the US to work in the coal mines to provide for his family. Frank came to the US at the age of 15 to reunite with his father in Raton. He quickly learned English and graduated from Raton High School in 1954. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and proudly served for 8 years. Frank worked as a parts manager for United Chevy in Raton, several dealerships in Colorado Springs, the York Canyon Coal mine, Jeffries Builders, and David Parker Builders, and was a part-time projectionist at the El Raton Theater and 85 Drive-in for many years. Frank loved to work but also enjoyed traveling with his wife, bowling, coaching Little League, and attending his son’s athletic events. Frank was blessed with good health most of his life and even after retirement continued to volunteer his time. He was a very happy-go-lucky man and would always have a story to tell about his many life adventures. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Patrick – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1332, and a member of the MCMC Hospital Auxiliary.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Antonucci, his son Alan Antonucci and wife Michael Anne of Raton and sister-in-law Barbara Peitz and husband Ron of Pueblo, Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Frank will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Leonardo Lopez and the MCMC nursing staff for their quality care and compassion.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Patrick – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Inurnment to follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Parish Hall following the services.
