In Loving Memory of Joseph Paul Zubal

Joseph Paul Zubal, known to all as “Paul,” peacefully departed this world on February 20, 2024,
surrounded by his beloved family at Parkview Hospital. Born on May 21, 1962, in Pueblo,
Colorado, Paul is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley (Campbell) Kancilia, and father, Joseph
A. Zubal, grandparents Joe and Agnes Zubal, Ocel and Vera Campbell, and mother-in-law,
Mary Munoz.
Paul leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by his devoted wife, Diana (Munoz),
stepdaughters Andria (Kim) Munoz and Tyra Munoz, along with grandchildren Kaitlyn Lamorie,
Louis and Evan Nava, Noel, and Aubree Martinez, Ellie and Khilee Compoz. His
great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Amiyah Lamorie, DJ and Noah Pacheco, will forever cherish
his memory.
In addition to his immediate family, Paul is survived by his sister, Pam (Darwin) Smallwood, and
niece Sarah Smallwood, and nephew Brad Smallwood. He is also remembered fondly by
brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard Munoz, Ernie and Bea Munoz, Sam and Marcia Munoz,
Irene and Ray Armillo, Betty Martinez, Theresa Gerardo, Rose Ammons, and Anita Munoz. His
step-father, Joe Kancilia, held a special place in Paul’s heart.
Paul embraced the great outdoors, embodying a life of independence and freedom. A skilled
farmer, rancher, and dedicated worker in the oil and construction industries, Paul’s journey also
included a passion for truck driving. A free spirit with a profound love for people and good times,
he found immense joy in the company of his wife and family.
Among Paul’s greatest joys were the moments spent playing with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. He will forever be cherished for his generous spirit, quick wit, and infectious
laughter. His willingness to lend a helping hand, coupled with his remarkable memory and love
for everything John Deere will always be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to
know him.
In honoring the memory of Joseph Paul Zubal, we celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that
touched the hearts of many. May he rest in peace, forever alive in the cherished memories of
those who loved him.
Viewing will be held at 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Comi Chapel, 1804
E. Main Street, Trinidad, CO.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Comi Chapel, 1804 E.
Main Street, Trinidad, Colorado. Internment immediately following at 23215 Trujillo Creek Road,
Aguilar, CO.
