N.M. 21 Bridge Rehabilitation near Rayado
LAS VEGAS – The New Mexico Department of Transportation District Four will begin a bridge
rehabilitation project on N.M. 21 beginning this week near Rayado. Bridge 1190, which was closed in
late August due to structural concerns, will have both east and west bridge abutments replaced. Located
between Springer and Cimarron on N.M. 21, Bridge 1190 will be utilizing state funding to address
structural concerns along with additional funding to perform similar rehabilitation for Bridges 1059,
1191, and 1192, which are all located on N.M. 21.
Rehabilitation is expected to be completed by the end of Summer 2024 and will cost approximately 1.5
million to complete. No local detour will be available through N.M. 21; therefore, local traffic will have
to continue to detour through N.M. 58 to Interstate 25 back to Springer.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation is committed to the safety of the traveling public and
appreciates your cooperation throughout this project. For up-to-date information on this project, visit
the statewide road information website at www.nmroads.com.
