Mary Elizabeth Colangelo was called to heaven on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Raton. mary is the daughter of Michael and Paulette (Edwards), Colangelo, Mary was born on Saturday, October 19, 1985, in Raton, NM.
Mary attended St. Patrick Catholic School and Raton Public Schools, graduating in 2004. Mary continued her education at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, earning a bachelor of Science Degree in Biology as a Crimson Scholar maintaining a 3.75 GPA, she applied, tested, and was accepted to the University of New Mexico School in Albuquerque, NM. Mary started medical school in 2014. She attended medical school for 2 years. Mary lived and worked in Albuquerque for 14 years until returning to Raton in July of 2023.
Mary’s mother, Paulette, passed away in 2015 during her first year of medical school due to illness.
Mary is survived by her father, Michael Colangelo of Raton, Brother Stephen Colangelo and family of Broomfield, Colorado, brother Joseph Edwards of Raton, Sister Doretta Edwards of Oklahoma, Uncle Monty Colangelo and family of West Plains, Missouri. Uncle Marvin Colangelo and the family of Raton. Aunt Patricia Guthrie and the family of Colorado and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services for Mary Colangelo: At St. Patrick/St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, December 2, 2023, Rosary at 9:00 am, recited by Frank Cimino, Marl, and Sharon Riddiford. Solem Mass 10:00 am, Fr. John Trambley and Fr. William Woytavich. Rite of committal and inurnment: 11:00 am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery (St. Patrick Section) in Raton. recited by Fr. John Trambley.
Because of Mary’s love for animals, the family is requesting in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Raton Humane Society.
