In Loving Memory of Joe Larry Martinez Sr.

In loving memory of Joe Larry Martinez Sr. Larry was born in Raton, NM on May 31, 1942 and passed away on November 1, 2023 at his home. Larry worked for Raton Natural Gas and Northern NM Gas companies for over 49 years. Larry married the love of his life Erlinda, on July 21, 1961, and they were married for 49 years and had three children. Larry Jr, Phil and Remy.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Joe A. Martinez and Margarita Martinez, His wife Erlinda P Martinez, and brothers Louie Martinez and Lawrence Martinez and by sisters Adelena Segura, Magdalena (Nena) Guerro, Mary Lee Roybal and Mary Alarid.

Larry is survived by son Joe Larry Martinez Jr, grandson Joe Larry Martinez III, and granddaughters Tristin Martinez and Stormie Martinez. Great grandsons Malachi Martinez and Dacion Perez and great-granddaughters Nevaeh Martinez and Aziariah Martinez. Son Phil Martinez and wife Melinda and granddaughter Autumn Rain. Daughter Remy Garcia and husband Ben, grandson Trevor Romero and wife Kendra. Great grandsons Oakely Lane and Onyx Legend. Granddaughter Sevin Glory. Sisters Marylou Sedillo, Sally Blea, Lena and Honorio Alba, Margaret Thompson and brother Orlando Martinez and many nieces and nephews.

Larry knew a lot about plumbing, electrical and construction work. He enjoyed horse racing and grew up working at La Mesa Park and he traveled many years to see the Breeders Cup and Kentucky Derby. He also enjoyed football and baseball. Larry was known to many as “Superdude”. He had many friends and was always willing to help anyone in need. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St Patrics-St Josephs Catholic Church and will be missed by family and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to their aunts Marylou Sedillo and Sally Blea for the sisters that they were to our dad and for always helping out and checking on him. He loved you both very much.

A small rosary for the family will be announced at a later date.
