Albert Iuppa Jr., known to most as “AJ”, passed away at the age of 92 on October 5, 2023.
A lifelong Trinidad resident, AJ was born on August 2, 1931, to Albert Sr. and Clara (Maniscalco)
Iuppa. He attended and graduated from Trinidad High School in 1948. Albert was united in
marriage to Marilyn Joyce Budd at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Trinidad, Colorado on
November 28, 1953. Together they raised two sons, Jim and Jerry.
AJ proudly worked in the family coal mine alongside his father for many years. After the closure
of the mine in the late 80’s, AJ ventured into entrepreneurship as a mobile parts salesman until
his retirement. He enjoyed country music and dancing, hobby ranching, and serving the
community as a member of the local water association and Trinidad Roundup Association. He
will be remembered for his orneriness, pride, love for his family and Italian heritage, and
appreciation of hard work.
Preceding him in death was his wife Marilyn Iuppa, son Jim Iuppa, sisters Josephine Montero,
and Helen Galasso, and parents Clara and Albert Sr.
He is survived by son Jerry (Jean) Iuppa of Colorado Springs, daughter-in-law, Diana Lambeth
of Amarillo, five granddaughters Courtney (Wade) LePlatt, Candice (Sebastian) Van Slyke,
Colleen (Spencer) Church, Allison (Scott) Scott, Lauren (Joel) Lenhart and five great
grandchildren. Also surviving AJ is beloved niece and caregiver Lucy (Carlos) Wren, siblings
Charlotte Iuppa of Trinidad, Clara Mae Regusa of Raton, and numerous other nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
Services will be held at Comi Funeral Home on October 19, 2023, beginning with a Rosary at
9:00 a.m. Funeral ceremonies will follow at 10:00 a.m. At AJ’s request, private inurnment will
occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mt. Rose Hospice.
Arrangements were made under the care and direction of the Comi Funeral Home.
