In Loving Memory Ruben A. Gonzales

Ruben A. Gonzales, age 78, of Trinidad Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2023, at home with his beloved wife at his side. Ruben was born on June 7, 1945 to Rueben and Ophelia (Bueno) Gonzales. He attended school in Sopris and Trinidad Co. Ruben was the fourth of 9 children. After high school, he moved to Denver where he lived for twenty years. He returned to Trinidad in 1987.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben and Ophelia Gonzales, his brothers Anthony “Wolf” Gonzales, and Harold Vialpando, sisters Cleo Coffey, his daughters Barbara Jean Ivarson, and Kathleen Gonzales, and granddaughter Jennifer Gonzales. Ruben is survived by the love of his life, Sara Montoya, his sons Michael (Melody) Gonzales, and Ruben Gonzales Jr., and stepson Jason Montoya (Rebecca), 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings, Steve (Nora) Gonzales, Priscilla McKenney, Eleanor (James) Vigil, Linda (Tony) Nicholson, Arlene (Albert) Bowman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved his family dearly. Ruben was a retired semi-truck driver and he struggled with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for many years. Ruben was an avid Denver Broncos fan as well as a Denver Nuggets fan. Ruben will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
Visitation will be Thursday
August 10, 2023, at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel from 3 pm-6 pm
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, at Holy Trinity Church with Rosary at 12:30 pm followed by the Funeral Mass at 1 pm.
Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
