Cindy Lee Moody – Sitzberger
( October 22, 1957 – July 24, 2023 )
Cindy Lee (Moody) Sitzberger, age 65, of Cimarron, NM, passed peacefully on July 24, 2023, at Colfax General Long Term Care in Springer, NM, ending a 26-year struggle with neuromuscular disease. She resided for the past 7+ years at Colfax General LTC.
Cindy was born on October 22, 1957, in Irumagawa, Japan at Johnson Air Base, to parents Alvin Lee Moody and Rebecca Nadine (Chaddick) Moody.
Cindy was the middle child, having an older sister, Barbara, and a younger brother Denis. During her early childhood, the family made several moves related to her father’s service with the United States Air Force, with time spent in Mesa, AZ, and Detroit, MI, before settling in Ft. Worth, TX. Cindy enjoyed a happy childhood and spent her formative years with many loving relatives in TX. She graduated from Western Hills High School in Ft. Worth in 1975 and subsequently completed college courses in various locations.
Her beautiful blue eyes, broad infectious smile, quick laugh, and abundant joy for life were shared with all who met her, resulting in many friends who already miss her greatly. She had a special affection for infants and young children and could always be found holding any babies in her vicinity.
Cindy held varied positions during her working career, including that of a drive-through bank teller. There it is said that she always had the longest line of cars due to her sunny disposition. She held several secretarial positions at the United Way of Tarrant County in TX. In Cimarron, for a time she was the Municipal Court Clerk. Her most important job, by far, was that of tireless advocate for her disabled son John, including a period of home school instruction.
Cindy was a religious and spiritual woman who, while raised with a Lutheran background, also became an active member of the Catholic and Methodist faiths. She enjoyed Bible study with friends and tried always to walk in the ways of the Lord. Some may remember her as their childhood religious education instructor.
She was an animal lover and typically had more than one cat or dog, or both, and was typically able to convince her husband that adoption of yet another was somehow a good idea.
Cindy met her husband Karl in Ft. Worth, TX at the pool party of a mutual friend on July 14, 1990. They had an instant connection and were rarely apart from that moment forward. Cindy married Karl Sitzberger on July 14, 1993, in Cimarron, NM. She brought into the union a son from a previous marriage, John Henry Briden, whom they raised together in Ft. Worth and Cimarron, where they moved into Karl’s family home in 1995. Cindy loved to travel, and prior to her residence in Cimarron, Cindy was fortunate to have traveled quite a bit. She resided in Ft. Worth, TX; Portsmouth, NH; Brunssum, Netherlands; Pacific Grove, CA; and Homestead, FL.
Cindy is survived by her husband Karl Sitzberger, Cimarron, NM, son John Henry Briden, Santa Fe, NM, sister Barbara Ann Moody, Abilene, TX, brother Denis Glenn Moody (Susan) St. Jo, TX, nephew Christopher Moody (Sarah), Pensacola, FL, niece Eryn Bedford (Lee), Leavenworth, KS, brother-in-law Kurt Sitzberger (Georgia), sister-in-law Karen Sitzberger (Howard Miller), and numerous cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Alvin Lee Moody and Rebecca Nadine Mood.
